A Home For Sacramento Filmmakers

Screening local stories. Supporting filmmakers.
Building community.

What We Do

Audience members sit in rows of chairs inside an industrial-style event space, attentively watching a projected film during a screening event.

Modest Film Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to strengthening Sacramento’s independent film community.

We host curated film screenings, hands-on workshops, and networking events that connect filmmakers with collaborators, audiences, and industry professionals. Our goal is to create meaningful spaces where local storytellers can grow, learn, and build sustainable creative careers.

Through the Modest Film Fund, ticket sales and community support are reinvested directly into filmmakers to help bring new projects to life.

Submissions are always open. Every event fuels the next opportunity.

Support The Community

Modest Film Society is powered by the community.

Ticket sales and donations go directly back into programming and the Modest Film Fund, helping Sacramento filmmakers continue creating.
